Plan the way out.
Before anything moves.

Six steps.
One agreed plan.

The materials and methods depend on your items, building, and confirmed scope. Precautions can reduce transfer risk; they cannot guarantee zero transfer or an infestation-free property.

What your quote should include
  1. Choose the items and confirm coverage

List furniture selected for disposal, including sizes and quantities. Share your ZIP code and furniture photos. Confirm local coverage, acceptance, who performs the work, and any additional hazards requiring review.

  2. Agree on access, timing, and the quote

Describe stairs, elevators, doorways, disassembly, parking, and loading restrictions. Identify who authorizes disposal and provides entry. Agree the included work, exclusions, price, and appointment timing before booking.

  3. Confirm containment before movement

Discuss item-appropriate bags or wrapping, who supplies and applies them, and where containment will happen. The plan should address closures, gaps, and damaged material before furniture moves through other areas. Follow the responsible operator’s job-specific instructions.

  4. Use the agreed carry and loading route

Plan shared corridors, elevators, and loading with the operator or building contact. Confirm how furniture will be handled and containment checked during movement. Avoid staging items in common areas without an agreed plan.

  5. Confirm transport and disposal

Ask where accepted items will go, what disposal requirements apply, and which fees are included. Discuss measures to prevent discarded infested furniture from being taken for reuse. Agree any required receipts before the job.

  6. Agree on closeout and next steps

Confirm the operator’s precautions for used materials, handling equipment, and the vehicle or trailer. Review agreed completion records and outstanding items. Arrange treatment, monitoring, cleaning, or replacement furniture separately as needed.

Removal and treatment.
Coordinate both.

A bag or wrap used for disposal differs from a treatment encasement on a mattress being kept. Furniture removal does not confirm that a property is free of bed bugs.
